PostNL Extra@Home has aligned pricing and invoicing by ensuring that both subcontractor payments and client invoicing are based on the same order data within Abillity®. By structuring both processes around a single order, PostNL eliminates discrepancies between execution and billing and strengthens control and predictability within its pricing process.
One order as the foundation for two financial processes
For Extra@Home, PostNL engages subcontractors to deliver and install large goods such as white goods, furniture and bicycles. Each order records what has been carried out, how many stops were made and on whose behalf the delivery took place, for example Coolblue.
With the recent enhancement in Abillity®, this order now serves as the foundation for both the subcontractor payment and the client invoice.
A consistently aligned administration
The primary benefit of this approach lies in administrative consistency. Because both processes rely on the same source data, execution and invoicing align automatically. Subcontractors receive the agreed payment for the deliveries performed, while clients are invoiced for the corresponding order lines. As a result, manual adjustments and reconciliations are no longer required. This strengthens control over complex pricing arrangements without the need for bespoke solutions.
Complex pricing arrangements, configured generically
Within Extra@Home, both standard pricing structures and client-specific agreements apply, alongside diverse calculation methodologies. This requires flexibility in the configuration and application of pricing rules.
Thanks to the generic architecture of Abillity® and its extensive, flexible pricing capabilities, these variations have been configured in a controlled and manageable way, without customisation for each individual case. In doing so, Abillity® supports PostNL in its ambition to organise pricing and invoicing in a uniform and scalable manner across multiple entities.
Strong collaboration as a success factor
This new order flow builds on the existing Abillity® architecture within PostNL’s system landscape. Delivered in close collaboration with PostNL’s project team, the enhancement was implemented efficiently.
With this addition, PostNL further strengthens its generic pricing model and establishes a scalable foundation to which additional business units can connect in a controlled and straightforward way.
