FIQAS and WightFibre

WightFibre offers super fast fibre optic broadband, telephone and TV on the Isle of Wight. Thanks to WightFibre, the Isle of Wight is the UK’s ‘fastest island’ as measured by average broadband speeds across the Island. The growing network of privately owned WightFibre delivers the fastest broadband on the island, with speeds of 152Mb/s, as well as market leading connectivity to hundreds of businesses. WightFibre is the only independent cable company in the UK using the same DOCSIS3 technology as Virgin Media.
Since 2001, WightFibre has been using software and services from FIQAS, making it FIQAS’ longest customer on board. WightFibre has faced many challenges since it signed its first contract with FIQAS. The company had several owners (Isle of Wight CTC became WightCable became WightFibre), and also the economic crisis of a few years ago did not leave WightFibre untouched. At the same time, WightFibre succeeded in making the important transition from classic cable to fiber optic. On the other hand, FIQAS was on the move too. The organization emerged stronger from the internet bubble burst, the development of the Abillity® platform went on and on and increasingly large and critical customers were served.
During the long cooperation with FIQAS, WightFibre has always used Abillity® for its financial processes. For its rating and billing since 2001, and since recently Abillity® is used for debtor management as well.
The solution implemented for WightFibre in Abillity® now covers the entire order-to-cash process; The CRM module provides the front end for order entry. The provisioning module initiates the technical connections of Conax (TV), MAC address (Internet) and DMS (phone).
The usage is rated and billed, together with the subscriptions. The accounts receivable module will collect and process payments. WightFibre has used the system in its own right, but nowadays FIQAS takes care of WightFibre’s financial processes in a managed service.
WightFibre has always stayed up-to-date with the continued development of Abillity®. With the migration to the latest version of the software platform (Q3 2017), WightFibre will posess of a flexible, reliable and future proof system in the coming years as well. John Irvine, CEO of WightFibre, was impressed with the migration project and the role of FIQAS in it: “This was a major project for WightFibre and, with only limited resources here at WightFibre, the changeover went very smoothly. This was due in no small part to the excellent support provided by FIQAS”.
WightFibre and FIQAS have recently decided to continue their cooperation for another five years.
